Not sure what this sums up other than that it is but another unpersuasive complaint about a process, and a privilege, that every president has employed, and one that they, and you, were not complaining about when it was the other party in power. So what other than hypocrisy does this sum up?

At least we were annoyed with the Younger Bush for good reason - he had wasted trillions on an unnecessary war whose only fruits were the destabilization of the entire region and the creation of an even more terrifying terrorist organization than the one the fight against he had abandoned so that he could topple the secular tyrant whose continued tyranny clearly had been in our own best interest. Other than being black, Obama hasn't done anything that seemingly would offer a similarly logical cause for the ire that he is generating.

Sums up what? As Kimon said, executive actions have been used many many times before. And they're PART of the law, and thus their use is not a violation of the rule of law.

Guys guys you have the wrong end of the thread here. This does sum up what southpaw is about. We of course got it the first three times which didn't stop him from repeating himself yet again. Somehow, though, he never gets what we always tell him, which is that he is dumb. I suppose we should take this as evidence of his lack of understanding, again. The eternal problem with him is not his opinions but his inability to discuss and refine them. In short, he is too stupid to understand that he is stupid.

For that, you have to read the following part:

Quote:
The “Black Lives Matter” movement, for example, reflects at least in part the suspicion of many African-Americans that the criminal laws are not fairly and evenhandedly enforced, even at the local level. The sense that the Supreme Court has become a political rather than a judicial body has led to diminished respect for what may once have been our most revered governmental institution, to the point of civil disobedience.
It was when the Supreme Court struck down the Jim Crow laws; when it decided that black lives at least legally should actually matter despite what the laws said, that the rot set in. Go back to blatantly open racism and all will be well again.

That is the real message of the piece to which Southpaw linked. Whether or not that is a message that Southpaw endorses I'll leave up to him to say.

I read it. Just wasn't sure someone would seriously endorse the idea that BLM had much to do with discontent with the Supreme Court. Or executive orders.

The real irony, of course, is a group that explicitly avows that they view the law through a specific political lens thinks it can convince anyone of the fact that US law is unfairly "politicized".

Someone once told me the phrase (which I love) that if you're in a crowded room and looking not sure who the idiot is, then its probably you.

Similarly, when the vast majority of a group of highly educated specialists concur, its probably not a conspiracy against the dissenting parties...

Careful there Ozy. I mean what good have a bunch highly educated specialists ever done? Sounds like Ivory Tower scholar types to me and what do they know? Nothing that effects real people in the real world that's what. Get off your high and mighty horse and do some real work like real people.
