Default visa stuff again

do I need a visa to visit the US for a couple of weeks?
does it take long to get a normal holiday-type one, if I need one?

I'm pretty sure you won't have to obtain one under the visa waiver program (applies to both Germany and the UK). Even if you did, it would be a B-2 type visa which is extremely easy to get and is usually only turned down if the consulate officer thinks you intend to stay permanently.

It could be a demonstration of just how weak the U.S. dollar is too...we've taken quite a hit in the past year.

That and the farther ahead you book in advance the cheaper it gets.

Read an article recently that said that was a myth, that there's no noticeable gain by buying a ticket six months in advance as opposed to a year in advance. The biggest gains in savings were, if I recall correctly, 10-12 weeks before the flight.

I'll see if I can find that article and post it here later.

the tickets I was looking at were for september.
but I did see that the prices dropped dramatically after Nov 1st, and even more after Dec 1st.
Not sure if that has anything to do with the fact that it's further ahead, or just with the seasons.
