Read it, loved it, am hooked. Rothfuss is an amazing storyteller. The Name of the Wind is quite possibly the best story I have ever read. I just wish he did not take so long between books.

Where have I heard that before?

I read it shortly after it first came out, but honestly it didn't do much for me. I don't really remember specifics at this point, just that I didn't really see what all the fuss was about.

I just finished it. I'm kinda with Bela. It was good enough, I suppose. I'll probably pick up the next one. I got more into it at the end. I just don't think it was really great.

I really think its the way the story is told that gets me. I really enjoyed and could not put it down. It was easily the best book I read in a while when I got to it.

I like parts of the story, but large chunks of it didn't do anything for me at all. Overall, NotW was a 'meh' for me. In addition, Rothfuss carries himself as if he's some sort of writing superhero, and that bothers me. His personality is way too entitled and self-important for a guy who has written two books.

Loved -The Name of the Wind and can agree with One armed Gimp that the method of storytelling added to the read for me.

the 2nd- The Wise Man's Fear was good but seemed to drag a little bit for me, it created more questions throughout the book which keeps me interested to read the next book but i was a little disappointed with a couple of sections that seemed to take ages to get through.

Finished reading both books and I'm eagerly awaiting the third. I wouldn't put Rothfuss on Jordan's level, but he is definitely on my "good" author list. I look forward to his future writing.

It reminded me of Philip Pullman. I loved it.

Bumping this thread because I've now read (listened to actually) both Name of the wind and Wise man's fear. I liked them both a lot. Maybe the second one a bit more. Especially the Adem part, loved the humor there.

They're among the BEST books I've read in the last 7-8 years. I've went to see Pat do a signing while still back in KY, and bought one of the shirts from his website.

If anyone even remotely likes his books, you need to be following his blog. It talks much more about pat's dealing with things (sudden 'fame', meeting celebrities, learning about being a father with his (now) toddler son, etc) but most of the reads are just full of down-to-earth humor. It really feels that Pat speaks with you and not to you, if you get what I mean.

I wish I could "like" or "+1" this. This is one of the few books in a LONG time that I have absolutely LOVED! I actually literally stayed up all night reading these books. The next day at school kinda sucked... but it was worth it.

It's a bit funny they are loved so much when not a lot really happens in them, at least not in the way of other fantasy plots.

Pffffft. I'm ginger and I've done most of the things Kvothe has. Admittedly, Rand's achievements are a little harder to match, but I'm getting there.

I loved those two books. Some really funny bits, some really sad (like when that plum poison stuff makes him think about his past - that had me choking up). But then my brother was slightly underwhelmed by them, so I suppose they're not for everyone.

An old friend I've just got back in touch with has recommended this to me, so I've added it to my wish list.

Her recommendation means so much more to me than any of you guys, of course. Just sayin'.
