Default Whatcha listening to these days?

I don't know if I've seen a music thread on the Non board in all my time here, which surprises me. I absolutely love music; I have some sort of music on probably 80% of the time I'm awake. If there's one thing I enjoy it's being exposed to new music. I have fairly broad tastes, so don't be afraid to suggest stuff that's off the beaten path. I'm not opposed to pop music either, so let's just let it fly.

So, TL, what are you listening to these days? I'll go first.

I'm really into electronica/trance/D&B, and lately I've been getting into more atmospheric and ambient stuff. A really awesome song that I enjoy a ton is Strobe by Deadmau5. So awesome.

I'm also into indie hip hop, so I have a few songs I'd like to recommend.

I'm a huge fan of Astronautalis, so check out This is our science

A Minneapolis local hip hop collective called Doomtree is really awesome. Dessa is one of the artists in the collective, and her career is starting to blow up. Feel free to start with Bangarang by Doomtree, and then poke around Youtube for stuff by Dessa and Doomtree if it sounds good to you.

I have plenty more, but I'm curious what you guys are listening to. Let's hear it! Share share share!

I've gone back to my youth the last few days.

listening to some old-school "happy"-punk(that's a direct translation of what we call it in Norway)

like Mest, Lagwagon, The Ataris, Goldfinger.

and of course some of the best songs ever:
Soilwork
Finntroll
Journey
In Flames
Deadsy

those are just 5 random songs from my Starred-list on Spotify.

for a full list of my current songs: Muzak8

and shameless plug:
Grand Elk(friends of mine)

Re: HipHop: Childish Gambino is the only rapper I listen to.

Other genres: I love the Trews

Also, Anchoress(NSFW lyrics) is good if you like punk; this is a shameless plug since I know them. Bonus points: the lead singer is a WOT fan. not HCFF, but enough that he made WOT references while drunk.
(note: while I was at that party, I arrived 2 minutes after they stopped shooting.)

Also Metric (indie rock) is good.

Here's one song and here's another.

A music thread! *does a little dance*

I have a VERY varied taste in music, everything from hard dance to heavy metal, plus some hip hop and even the odd pop song, although only if it's really good (so really only the odd song!)

My most favourite band from last year had to be Pride and Glory - a side project by Zakk Wylde of Black Label Society, and surprising for me, cos BLS mostly leave me cold.

Other than that I also really got into Black Stone Cherry (bit late to that party), and Rival Sons, both of whom I'm going to see in March

I approve the Deadmau5 shout.

I may post some links, if I can a) figure out how, and b) choose some songs that I think are worthy.

ETA: I forgot about these guys. About as far removed from my normal listening pleasure as you can get, but I LOVE THEM! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zYpDJw7fThU

*ahem*

Carte Blanche? Time to dance?
On Your Head? With no pants?

Well then, take a second and listen...
To These Jams... Tears WILL glisten.

Looking for Rhymes even better than mine?
Or Classics sure to please every time?
Need to seem classy over spaghetti and wine?
Or dope shit... makes you wish he was a mime?

Maybe you want to rock your socks off?
Or you need to seem cool to your friends?
Perhaps you're an Imperial Moff,
Or you'd like to play pretend...

If something less mainstream is more your style,
Or if you live a Party-Rock lifestyle,
Or if you only need something to make you smile,
Then listen to this for a little while!

Not necessarily a fan of all the music just posted, but I enjoyed the Michael Bolton song and the rhyming post.

Nice work, keep it coming!

I caught them a few years back with Megadeth and Children of Bodom. They put on a pretty good live show.

Right, I am a HUGE music junkie. If you like Dessa, and Doomtree, check out Atmosphere. Here is one of the members, doing an acoustic piece.

I really enjoy the youtube channel from 89.3 the Current (893thecurrent) as there is a wide variety of bands in studio and in concert. Just spend an hour surfing through it.

I listen mainly to Metallica and Rammstein, but I'm always on the lookout for additions.

Recently I found Dark Tranquillity which have some quite nice songs.

My musical preferences seem to have shifted along with my age. (No matter how much I protested that 'Punk would always be cool to me!')

I still will harken back to the ol' Minor Threat and Black Flag stuff on the odd occassion.

But now I mostly listen things in the vein of a trip-hop style o(r it's variants): i.e. Portishead, Massive Attack, The Bird and The Bee etc

My tattoo's tell a different story although. There is a Deftones 'White Pony' on my ankle and a line from "Summer Holidays Vs. Punk Routine" by Refused (who recently got back together ) wrapped around my forearm.

Edit: I just read that At The Drive-In are back together also... this proves to be a happy year for me.

Awesome Cradle of Filth tracks there, Sini.

I like this song and video by Kreator. Awesome video, especially the end.
