regnancy, Bonding, and Aviendha

Previous Categories: Miscellaneous Theories

Well, lets see.. At the beginning of WH, we have elayne and avienda bonded together as first sisters... Then a little while later, elayne bonds rand as his warder, and using the little first sister technique she picked up from the aiel, adds min and avienda in the bond, so they are all now one big happy family. Shortly later however, min has a viewing of avienda, and sees that she's going to have several babies, all will be healthy and strong, but there is just something not right with them.

Well, if you remember what Elayne was told at her bonding to Avienda by Mondaelle, no BABY could probably survive this procedure, that's why Melaine wasn't included. Now Avienda is pregnant, and she is bonded to both Elayne, Rand and Min. Who knows how this would effect an unborn child. I think these children will be very special, not only will they definetly inherit the ability to channel, since it is genetically passed along, and both their parents (Rand and Avienda) can channel, but the babies also will probably be bonded to thems and possibly to Min, Rand and more then likely Elayne.

This is something I have always wondered. Is Aviendha pregant now? As far as I know, no one has made mention of it being a possibility in the last three books, but you would expect Elayne to have noticed. So is Min talking about babies Aviendha will have in the future...or ones she is pregnant with now, that would make all the difference to your theory.

Nynaeve Delved and Healed Avienda after the explosion at the Kin's Retreat. Wisdom that she is, she just might have noticed a teeny tiny detail like PREGNANCY!

But imagine all the labor pains spreading around when Elayne gives birth... Elayne to Rand, Min, Birgitte, and twice to Avienda, then Rand to Alanna, and Alanna to Ihvon... Ain't bonding a b***h?

Besides from the delving fact, just the first-sister cerimony itself would most likely erraticate any child Aviendha had or at least they would know about it. And she would almost definitely be showing signs outwardly. Another thing is: 4 children? I would think that would be practically impossible with their technology, although they might be able to do something with the OP, but maybe Min is reading that she will also have twins along with Aviendha but the Bond is transposing her viewing to co-exist with Avis. Just a thought.

I don't think Aviendha is already pregnant, but I agree that the quadruplets have something to do with Bonding. Earlier, we found out that Elayne's courses changed by a week or so to coincide with Birgitte's. Now she's having twins. One for each long-term member of the bond. And eventually Aviendha will have four kids at once, and there are three girls tied to Aviendha through a bond. (The weaves were definitely adapted to connect the three women as well as Rand, so there's a low-level bond between them, and Aviendha's connected to Birgitte through Elayne.) So I think maybe everybody will be affected the same way Birgitte and Elayne were.

Aviendha is going to be a wise one.

Let's say between them, Min ,Elayne and Aviendha have 4 girls.

Aviendha having 4 of them at once is her sitting in to feel the birthing pains at a Wise One ceremony to adopt these 4 2nd sisters as 1st sisters.

(i am aware that 2 of these 4 daughters would already have to be 1st sisters, but this way all 4 are equally bonded).

i don't buy the bond thing altering the pregnancy, because then Birgitte would also be pregnant, probably now.

Of course, there is the fact that Aviendha would have to be at least 4 months pregnant by now, and I think someone (like Aviendha herself) would have noticed.

I think someone would have noticed if Aviendha was pregnant like herself. In none of Avi's POVs has there been anything about her being pregnant. As for Min's viewing about something being odd about Aviendha's babies, well having quadruplets in that age probably hasn't happened very much and could be considered odd.

Just like to point out, that it could also not be Aviendha having four kids at once:

**TITLE: Winter's Heart

CHAPTER: 12 - A Lily in Winter

Min wondered whether to tell her what she had seen while they were all together. Aviendha would have Rand's babies, too. Four of them at once! Something was odd about that, though. The babies would be healthy, but still something odd. And people often did not like hearing about their futures, even when they said they wanted to. She wished someone could tell her whether she herself would. . . .**

The four of them at once, could refer to the number of Rand's children his is to have("Rand, you're going to have four kids at once!"; you get what I mean ;)).

It could be intepretated other ways.

And about Avi being pregnant now. WOT FAQ:

**Not a chance. There are two reasons why:

1. Nynaeve Delved Aviendha at the beginning of TPOD, after Elayne almost blew them up with unraveling her Gateway from the Kin farm [TPOD: 20, Into Andor, 390]. From [WH: 11, Ideas of Importance, 274], we see that Delving is a very thorough examination. If Aviendha had been pregnant, she would have been about four months along at that point, and there's no way Nynaeve wouldn't have detected it - that's a big physiological change, even if the woman isn't showing it externally. And it's absurd to think Nynaeve would detect such a life-changing condition and decide not to tell Aviendha about it. Therefore, if Avi was pregnant, she'd know.

2. And that's why the sister-bonding ceremony in WH's prologue is proof that Avi is not pregnant. Monaelle explains that Melaine is not present at the ceremony because "the babes she carries would be part of the bond between you and Aviendha, if the weaves brushed them. If they survived, that is; the unborn are not strong enough for this" [WH: Prologue, Snow, 48]. Aviendha would not have participated in the ceremony if she were pregnant.**

There you go. Since the viewing, Rand hasn't slept with Avi. He has slept with Min though, as well as Elayne ;)
