So...Sarevok -- what'd ya think? This is what they're replacing your beloved monk with after all. :P

only partially, though... sounds like the Guardian only inherited Smiting and Protection prayers. :(

All professions will have the ability to heal allies. Some will do the job better than others. Any healing that affects an ally will affect ALL allies. No more single target healing. How this is accomplished will vary depending on profession.
Best healer in GW2 will be the Elementalist attuned to water. But since all professions have the ability to heal allies you will not be pigeonholed into a specific profession.
GW2 is geared for offensive roles with support thrown in. You cannot play a totally passive role in GW2. You have to be offensive and switch to support when there is need.
GW2 gameplay will be based around the ability to damage/control/support for each and every profession. The key for support and control will not be healing damaged allies, but to help your allies not take any or very little damage. Also the ability to dodge will help lessen damage done.
The Guardian will be very useful to allies. Block attacks, health regeneration and condition removal.

Personally I am glad that the old 'Holy Trinity' is gone from GW2. It is about time a MMORPG got rid of it and hopefully more will do it.

Sounds like a bit more focused on the Protection Prayers portion of the monk skills, probably with a bit of the Smiting thrown in for.

I,ll miss healing exclusively I think. Maybe not seeing red lines for an hour afterwards....but still.

The monk class isn't gone! They just took all the monks and ground them up and added them to all the other classes.

That is perfectly fine with me. As most of you know i have never been comfortable as a healer and will most assuredly be playing warrior in gw2.
