View Full Version : Hugo voter packet is out

The Hugo voter packet is out. It looks pretty complete this year; they were able to get the right to distribute all the novels and I think most of the other nominated works for members of Worldcon.

Even if you aren't planning to go to Worldcon, you can become a "supporting" (aka not attending) member for $50 which will get you access to the voter packet and the right to vote in this year's Hugo and to nominate works for next year's Hugo awards.

And your vote does matter; last year the Best Novel Hugo ended in a tie and I missed submitting my ballot because I was out of town, so my vote would have made the difference. Plan to get it in this year early even if I haven't made it through the entire voter packet.

Nominees are here (http://www.renovationsf.org/hugo-intro.php) and info on the voter packer is here (http://www.renovationsf.org/hugo-packet.php).

Anyone have thoughts on the nominees? Only novel nominee I've already read is Cryoburn, and while I thought it was good and I love the Vorkosigan series, I'm not sure it rises to greatness.

I am totally useless for Hugos, since I don't read Other Stuff any more. :( I'm wondering if I should vote at all.

I read some of the short stories and novelettes this afternoon. Some were good, some were not. It's interesting to see the range of works, though.
